Wellness Policy

The Local School Wellness Policy requirement was established by the Child Nutrition and WIC Reauthorization Act of 2004, and further strengthened by the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010. The purpose of the Wellness Policy is to help improve student health and address the growing concern of childhood obesity.

Our Wellness Policy focuses on establishing a school environment that promotes healthy food choices, and encourages physical activity. The policy was developed by our School Health Advisory Council (SHAC) team that includes parents, teachers, school nurses, registered dietitians, and administrators.

If you would like to be part of our SHAC team, please contact the Student Nutrition Office at 496-742-8041.
