Scott Christiansen was elected to the School Board in May 2012. A managing partner with the law firm Crutcher & Christiansen PLLC, Mr. Christiansen received a bachelor of science in mechanical engineering from Montana State University and his Juris Doctor (Cum Laude) from Pepperdine University School of Law.
Mr. Christiansen was raised in Plentywood, a small town in Montana, by a family of educators. His father was a superintendent, his mother a librarian and his sister became a high school physics teacher, who all placed significant importance on education and public service. Mr. Christiansen is an Eagle Scout and National Merit Scholarship Finalist and continued his leadership in post graduate studies as the associate editor of Law Review in 1996-1997 and member of national moot court teams. He has worked in corporate and securities law at Winstead Sechrest & Minick P.C. in Dallas and was Senior Vice President and General Counsel as well as the Chief Compliance Officer for the private equity groups of Lehman Brothers and Neuberger Berman.
“I ran for school board to use my skills as an engineer and lawyer to contribute to a growing district that is creating an exceptional experience for all kids,” noted Mr. Christiansen. “I believe Lovejoy is on the right path with its challenging academic programs and broad offerings of extracurricular activities. If we can push all of our children reach their potential, in a safe environment, then we have accomplished our ultimate goal.”
In his community, Mr. Christiansen is a member of Creekwood United Methodist Church and was a mentor in Uplift Education Charter Schools. He was on the investment committee of the Dallas Social Venture Partners and coaches a variety of teams in the Allen Sports Association.
Mr. Christiansen and his wife Jill, a former school based occupational therapist for 15 years, including two years with Lovejoy ISD, and current owner of Kidz Therapy Zone, a private pediatric occupational, speech and physical therapy practice, moved to Lucas in 2005 with their three daughters, who attend various campuses within Lovejoy ISD.
