Marcy R. Hambrick, Ph.D.
Director of Human Resources Compliance
Focus Areas: Hiring of professional and auxiliary staffing; employment law, compliance, and documentation; management of programs, policies, and practices; strategic planning; performance appraisal, personnel file maintenance, and employee relations.
Background: Marcy is completing her 11th year in public education and has served as a Teacher, Assistant Principal, and Director. She received her Doctorate of Philosophy Degree from the University of North Texas, her Master's Degree from Southern Methodist University, and Bachelor's Degree from the University of Oklahoma. While she now calls Texas her home, Marcy was born and raised in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. Marcy and her husband, Brian, are blessed with two girls under the age of 2 (Aria and Anna). They enjoy raising their daughters, living an active lifestyle, and traveling with friends and family.
Kent Messer, Ed.D.
Director of Human Resources for Employee Recruitment and Development
Focus Areas: Hiring of professional and auxiliary staffing; recruiting; interviewing; mentoring; staff development; employee relations and recognition; strategic planning and compliance.
Background: Kent is a 23 year veteran in public education and has been a member of the Lovejoy ISD team for the past 14 years. Over his career, Kent has served as a Teacher, Coach, Assistant Principal, and Principal. He received his Educational Doctorate through Creighton University, his Master's from the University of New Mexico, and his Bachelors's from Emporia State University, where he participated in college athletics. Kent and his wife Jennifer have three sons: Coleson (15), Case (12), and Crews (10).
Human Resources Administrative Assistant
Focus Areas: Hiring, Certifications, Eduphoria, Learning@Lovejoy & Administrative Assistant to HR Directors.
Background: Aimee has worked in the district for four years. She worked as an Educational Aide for two years and an Administrative Assistant for the past two years. Prior to that, she worked in the financial industry and worked with Cinemark World Headquarters for fifteen years. Aimee has three children, two that are in college at Texas State and Baylor University, and a junior at Lovejoy ISD. Aimee enjoys time with her family, walking her dogs, and is an avid reader.
Cheryl Perez, CTSBO
Focus Areas: Benefits, Onboarding, Safe Schools, Workers' Compensation, Unemployment, Retirement, Sick Leave Bank, Leave Benefit Coordination
Background: Cheryl comes to Lovejoy ISD with over 20 years in education, including serving for 9 of those years on the ESC Region 11 Benefit Coop. She received her undergraduate degree in Business Administration and her teaching certifications in Math and Elementary Education. Her passion, however, is benefits! Whether you have questions about benefit plans, filing a claim, teacher retirement, or any number of things - her focus is on educating the employee so they can make informed decisions with confidence. Cheryl and her husband, Willy, love to travel with their two children, as well as with family and friends.
Human Resources Generalist
Focus Areas: Job Postings, Pre-Employment Clerical Testing, Employee Onboarding (Employee Last Names N-Z), Personnel File & Record Management, Teacher Service Records, HR Customer Service, Employee Exits.
Background: Gerri is completing her 10th year in public education and has served as a Campus Receptionist, HR Position Control Specialist, and HR Generalist. Before becoming a part of education, she worked in the banking and telecommunication industries. She acquired her Associate of Arts in the Business Field of Study from Collin College and is currently pursuing her Bachelor's Degree in Business - Human Resource Management. Originally from Oklahoma, Gerri and her husband, Larry Sr., moved to Texas in 1995. They are the proud parents of two. Her son, Larry Jr., is an Eagle Scout and currently enrolled at Collin College. Her daughter Kathryn is a high school senior, who will be heading off to Stephen F. Austin University in the Fall. Gerri enjoys spending time with her friends and family and is looking forward to graduating soon.
Human Resources Generalist

Background: Kim is an experienced HR Generalist with 8+ years experience in both public education and non-profit settings. Kim holds a Master's Degree in Public Service Administration, a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and Developmental Disabilities, and Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification. Kim came to Lovejoy ISD in May 2018 as both an employee and parent #WeLiveLovejoy. Kim and her husband Aaron, have two children: Shelby (9) and Lucas (3), as well as, one fur-baby: Clarkson Roo. While not at work, Kim enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, gardening, photography, and camping.
