Lovejoy ISD is proud to announce Stephen McCarty as Director of Human Resources. Mr. McCarty brings a unique and well-rounded background that reflects a deep commitment to supporting both employees and students, cultivating high expectations.

Mr. McCarty brings 17 years of administrative experience at the campus and district levels as teacher, 504 facilitator, assistant principal, and principal, where he has consistently demonstrated strong, people-centered leadership.

In prior leadership roles, Mr. McCarty supported campus and district initiatives by helping guide instructional practices, coordinating assessment systems, and ensuring compliance with student support processes such as 504 plans. He has also demonstrated an ability to think strategically about staffing, aligning personnel to meet evolving student needs and organizational priorities.

What truly distinguishes Mr. McCarty is the breadth of his experience beyond traditional education roles. His background in clinical psychology, including work at child and family guidance centers, has equipped him with a strong understanding of human behavior, employee support systems, and the importance of fostering inclusive environments where all individuals can thrive.

Mr. McCarty has a wife named Eleanor, and three children, Owen (16), Margot (13), and Gilbert (11). Margot plays soccer for FC Dallas, Gilbert plays soccer in Prosper and Owen is an avid fisherman. When Mr. McCarty is not cheering on his children, he enjoys playing the piano, guitar and traveling with his family.
