Today, in recognition of Patriot Day and the National Day of Service and Remembrance, the Lovejoy High School PALs honored September 11th by turning remembrance into service and gratitude within our own community.

Our PALs began by recognizing our Lovejoy ISD School Marshals, surprising them with their favorite Sonic drinks as a small way to thank them for the important role they play in protecting and serving our schools each day.

The PALs also participated in Operation Gratitude’s Activation Day, an initiative centered on honoring and thanking those who serve. Students visited the Lucas Fire Department and Fairview Police Department to personally deliver Activation Day boxes along with many handwritten cards of appreciation created by students from all of our Lovejoy ISD campuses.

Patriot Day is not only a time to remember the lives lost and the heroes who emerged on September 11, 2001, but also an opportunity to carry forward the spirit of unity, service, and gratitude that followed. For our PALs, today was a chance to do exactly that by taking time to recognize the first responders and protectors who continue to serve our schools and communities every day.

Seeing students from across Lovejoy ISD contribute handwritten messages made this project even more meaningful. Each card was a simple reminder to our local heroes that their service, sacrifice, and commitment do not go unnoticed.

The Lovejoy HS PAL program strives to develop students who understand that leadership is also about serving others. We are incredibly proud of our PALs for choosing to honor this National Day of Service and Remembrance through action, and we are deeply grateful for our School Marshals, Lucas firefighters, Fairview police officers, and all first responders who dedicate themselves to keeping our communities safe.

Today, we remember. Today, we serve. And today, we say thank you.
