On Monday, February 9th the LISD Board of Trustees approved submitting a state waiver for missed school days on January 28 and 29, 2026 due to inclement weather.

After receiving Board approval, Lovejoy ISD applied for and has been granted a missed school state waiver; therefore, at this time, we will not have to attend school on the March 23 and April 6, 2026 bad weather make-up days.

We appreciate your patience while we completed the required processes to secure the waiver.

Lovejoy Swim & Dive delivered an impressive performance at the Regional Championships, continuing strong postseason momentum on both the girls and boys sides.

The girls team placed 4th overall, the boys team finished 5th, and the combined team earned 4th place overall in a highly competitive regional field.

🌟 State Qualifiers:

Cayna Craver – 100 Backstroke (call-up)

Girls 200 Medley Relay – State call-up

Girls 200 Freestyle Relay – State call-up

Jack Keller – 200 IM (qualified) & 100 Backstroke (call-up)

Boys 400 Freestyle Relay – State call-up

The Leopards will compete at the State Championships February 20–21 at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center on the campus of University of Texas at Austin.

Lovejoy heads to Austin with confidence, depth, and a continued commitment to excellence.

Today’s session brought our work full circle as stakeholders reviewed feedback, examined the SWOT summary, and engaged in thoughtful dialogue around the draft plan. Through gallery walks, dot voting, and structured input protocols educators, parents, and community members helped refine priorities and identify next steps for the future of Lovejoy ISD. Last night, Superintendent Kordel had the privilege of engaging with our teachers at the Teacher-Superintendent Connection Council. Teacher feedback is shaping Lovejoy’s strategic plan into a future-focused roadmap that reflects our shared priorities. Today, we continue the work as we meet with our stakeholder committee to review the drafted plan and gather additional perspectives. Collaboration like this shapes our vision and represents our entire Lovejoy community. Lovejoy Wrestling competed at the Regional Championships in Bryan last week and the Leopards showed up in a big way. As a team, Lovejoy earned 4th place overall with 117 points in Region 3-5A competition.

This week, the Leadership Lovejoy Class of 2026 experienced the full K-12 journey with visits to Hart Elementary School and Lovejoy High School!🐆♥️At Hart, participants saw learning in action, from structured literacy in 1st grade and problem-solving in 4th grade math to the kindergarten reading block. The morning also highlighted student leadership through the Hart Ambassador and Buddy Program, showcasing how leadership begins early in Lovejoy ISD. The day concluded at Lovejoy High School with tours of the Robotics program, Visual Arts Gallery, and the Competition Gym, along with powerful conversations with student leaders, fine arts and athletics. Leadership Lovejoy participants continue to gain meaningful, firsthand insight into what makes Lovejoy ISD so special. Join us in celebrating National School Counseling Week! Our Lovejoy counselors are instrumental in supporting our students' daily activities. Their compassion, empathy, guidance, and patience have a tremendous impact on student success and wellbeing. Thank you, LISD counselors!

Lovejoy High School’s Mock Trial team delivered a strong showing at the Region 10 competition on Saturday, January 31, advancing to the semifinals out of 30 teams.

With just two returning veterans and eight first-time competitors, the team represented Lovejoy with excellence. Congratulations to Arwyn Eairheart, Natasha Gittemeier, Katy Payne, Petra Pipinich, Makena Mount, Caroline Hays, Rutvika Rao, Natalie Hsiao, and Abigail George.

The team competes in semifinals on February 14 at the George Allen Courthouse, with courtroom artist Cora Craver learning next week if she advances to State.
