This morning, Board President Barrett Owens, Vice President Jeff Wood, Legislative Subcommittee Chair Jason Jaynes, Superintendent Katie Kordel, and District Staff, spent productive time at the State Capitol meeting with legislators to champion for the students of Lovejoy ISD. Discussions focused on critical issues including student safety and school finance. We are incredibly grateful to our Board of Trustees, who continue to dedicate their time and energy to supporting the needs of Lovejoy. The 2025 Lovejoy ISD Bond Package will update or replace major operational systems at all existing campuses and facilities. Some projects, such as LED lighting upgrades and HVAC replacement, will save an estimated $300,000 dollars annually in M&O expenses once the projects are fully implemented. TOMORROW Hart and Puster Elementary Schools invite parents and rising kinders to our 2025 Kindergarten Sneak Peek from 5:00 p.m.-6:15 p.m. During the event, students will rotate through activities in kinder classes, while parents receive kindergarten information from campus administrators. This morning, Superintendent Kordel, three LHS Students and members of our Board of Trustees had the privilege of attending the Allen Fairview Chamber of Commerce "Eggs and Issues" event. The focus of the event was the upcoming May 3rd elections, highlighting Lovejoy ISD and other local districts, city, and town councils. Our students were actively engaged and eager to learn more about the roles of school board members and local government officials. It was a fantastic opportunity for them to gain firsthand insights into how decisions are made at the community level.
