This morning’s Academic Pep Rally was a celebration of learning at Lovejoy High School.

Students were recognized for outstanding academic achievements, including Advanced Placement (AP) Scholars and National Merit recognitions. Their dedication, perseverance, and commitment to growth continue to set a high standard of excellence.

Spring sports teams were also honored as they head into competition season, celebrating the hard work and preparation already underway. Incredible performances by the Majestics, cheerleaders, and our talented A Cappella group, brought spirit and energy to the event!

It was a proud morning for Leopard Nation, celebrating success in academics, athletics, and the arts. ❤️🖤

🎶 Lovejoy Musicians Earn All-State Honors! 🎶 At last week’s Texas Music Educators Association Convention in San Antonio, Lovejoy’s All-State Band and Orchestra students delivered outstanding performances that reflect months of dedication and excellence. Earning a place in an All-State ensemble is one of the highest honors in Texas music education, selected through a rigorous audition process that begins with more than 70,000 students statewide. Congratulations to Sarah Gable, Ian Marshall, Nolan Hummel, Devin Goins, and Max Rattleff for representing Lovejoy Band at the state level. Congratulations as well to Evan Zhang, violist in the Lovejoy Orchestra, on earning All-State Orchestra recognition. 🏀 The Lovejoy Lady Leopards are moving on!

After closing out the regular season with an impressive 24-9 record, the Lady Leopards secured a Bi-District playoff victory Monday night over Mt. Pleasant.

Next up: the Area Round! Lovejoy will face Frisco Memorial on Friday at 6:00 p.m. at Prosper Rock Hill High School.

What a season for Lovejoy Wrestling!

We are incredibly proud of all our wrestlers and the hard work they put in all year long. Congratulations to the following athletes on their finishes at the UIL State Tournament:

🏆 UIL State Champion
Aro Ogle-Garza – 110 lbs (undefeated!)

🥉 6th Place Finishers
Landon Davis – 144 lbs
Nick Rowe – 285 lbs

Each finalist battled every step of the way. Aro capped off an undefeated run with a State Championship performance. Landon had a phenomenal first day to reach the semifinals and continued to fight through a challenging second day. After dropping his first match, Nick battled back one match at a time to earn a sixth-place finish.

Congratulations as well to Paxton Friesland (120 lbs), Ethan Bates (175 lbs), and Alex Reed (215 lbs) on qualifying for State and representing Lovejoy at the highest level.

In Mrs. Landers’ class, students are tackling story problems with unknowns by slowing down, making sense of the situation, and planning a strategy. They identify what they’re solving for, use number bonds and strip diagrams to represent their thinking, write an equation to match the story, and solve with confidence.

Even better? They can explain how they solved it. From “I know the unknown is…” to complete-sentence answers, these students are showing strong problem-solving skills, perseverance, and mathematical reasoning in action. Way to go! 👏

Lovejoy's School Marshals build relationships with students, protect our school communities, provide safety education, continuously lead by example, and promote a positive image of peace officers to students and community stakeholders. On Monday, February 9th the LISD Board of Trustees approved submitting a state waiver for missed school days on January 28 and 29, 2026 due to inclement weather.

After receiving Board approval, Lovejoy ISD applied for and has been granted a missed school state waiver; therefore, at this time, we will not have to attend school on the March 23 and April 6, 2026 bad weather make-up days.

We appreciate your patience while we completed the required processes to secure the waiver.

🏊‍♀️🐾 Lovejoy Swim & Dive Heads to State!

Lovejoy Swim & Dive delivered an impressive performance at the Regional Championships, continuing strong postseason momentum on both the girls and boys sides.

The girls team placed 4th overall, the boys team finished 5th, and the combined team earned 4th place overall in a highly competitive regional field.

🌟 State Qualifiers:

Cayna Craver – 100 Backstroke (call-up)

Girls 200 Medley Relay – State call-up

Girls 200 Freestyle Relay – State call-up

Jack Keller – 200 IM (qualified) & 100 Backstroke (call-up)

Boys 400 Freestyle Relay – State call-up

The Leopards will compete at the State Championships February 20–21 at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center on the campus of University of Texas at Austin.

Lovejoy heads to Austin with confidence, depth, and a continued commitment to excellence.

That’s a wrap on 3 rewarding days of collaboration with the Stakeholder Strategic Planning Committee! Today’s session brought our work full circle as stakeholders reviewed feedback, examined the SWOT summary, and engaged in thoughtful dialogue around the draft plan. Through gallery walks, dot voting, and structured input protocols educators, parents, and community members helped refine priorities and identify next steps for the future of Lovejoy ISD. Last night, Superintendent Kordel had the privilege of engaging with our teachers at the Teacher-Superintendent Connection Council. Teacher feedback is shaping Lovejoy’s strategic plan into a future-focused roadmap that reflects our shared priorities. Today, we continue the work as we meet with our stakeholder committee to review the drafted plan and gather additional perspectives. Collaboration like this shapes our vision and represents our entire Lovejoy community. Lovejoy Wrestling competed at the Regional Championships in Bryan last week and the Leopards showed up in a big way. As a team, Lovejoy earned 4th place overall with 117 points in Region 3-5A competition.
