Lovejoy ISD is proud to announce Ms. Michelle Leasure as Director of Transportation. Ms. Leasure joins Lovejoy ISD from Allen ISD’s Transportation department where she has been employed since 2009. On April 8th, the DFW Metroplex will be in the path of totality for a once-in-a-lifetime solar eclipse. Lovejoy ISD is excited to share this celestial opportunity with our students and staff! Weather permitting, students in kindergarten through high school will be allowed the opportunity to go outside to investigate the phenomena during totality. Because looking directly at the Sun is unsafe, Lovejoy students and staff will be provided certified ISO 12312-2 eclipse glasses. Students will be required to wear the glasses provided except when given teacher permission to remove them during totality. Solar Eclipse permission slips will be sent home by your campus. If you would like your student(s) to participate in the outdoor activities, please complete the permission slip and return it to your campus by April 2nd. Saturday, March 2nd the Lovejoy High School theater students competed against 6 other schools in the 5a District 13 UIL One Act Play competition. Lovejoy performed their selection of "The Women of Lockerbie" by Deborah Brevoort. We were one of the 3 schools chosen to advance to the bi-district competition on March 21st and 22nd in Terrell, TX. Student Zoe Nolan won the best performer for the entire competition (only 2 of these awards are given for the entire competition!). Chloe "Kore" Russell won an all-star cast award, Blake Gatlin won an honorable mention award, and Solar Randall won a technical award for best sound design. Congratulations, Lovejoy Theatre!

Lovejoy ISD is fortunate to have outstanding educational diagnosticians that serve students across our district. Please join us in celebrating: Christina Paxton, Judy Hendricks, Elaine Dow, Lacy Massey, Tammy Williams, Vanessa Pembroke. Educational diagnosticians undergo specialized training to use academic and psychological tests to assess students suspected of disabilities, isolate factors that could enhance students’ performance in the classroom, and prepare formal evaluation reports.
