Dear Lovejoy Community,
Thank you for your continued patience and understanding as we navigate this winter weather together.
Due to inclement weather and unsafe driving conditions, all Lovejoy ISD schools and administration will remain closed Thursday, January 29, 2026. All extra-curricular activities and events will be rescheduled or canceled unless otherwise communicated.
While many major roadways have improved, District parking lots, neighborhood streets, and secondary roads across our community remain icy and potentially hazardous. The decision to remain closed was made after careful consideration for the safety of our Lovejoy families, student drivers, staff members, and bus transportation services. We know these decisions impact families’ routines, and we appreciate your understanding, patience, and support.
We want to express our sincere appreciation to our maintenance, grounds, and custodial teams, who continue to work diligently inspecting buildings, clearing parking lots and sidewalks, and preparing campuses for our students and teachers. We are incredibly grateful for their dedication and hard work.
Texas public school districts are required to provide a minimum of 75,600 minutes of instruction per school year. While Lovejoy ISD has enough instructional minutes to cover Monday and Tuesday's closures, we will be required to use both scheduled make-up days on Monday, March 23rd and Monday, April 6th. Please see the 2025-2026 student calendar for reference: https://www.lovejoyisd.net/o/lisd/page/calendars.
Thank you again for your patience, partnership, and understanding. We are grateful for our Lovejoy families and remain committed to making decisions that prioritize the safety and well-being of our entire community.
Stay safe and warm, Lovejoy.

Both the men’s and women’s teams earned second place overall in a highly competitive meet, showcasing the depth and strength of the program.
The women’s 200 freestyle relay claimed a district title with a first-place finish from Sarah Gable, Cayna Craver, Abigail Mayces, and Grace Hu, and Cayna Craver added another district championship by taking first place in the 100 backstroke.
With the top six finishers in each event advancing, Lovejoy qualified 32 events for regionals, with 19 student-athletes moving on to continue postseason competition.
Momentum is strong as Lovejoy Swim & Dive now turns its focus to Regionals. 🖤❤️

Lovejoy ISD continues to closely monitor weather and road conditions alongside local first responder agencies and the National Weather Service. Beyond the weight room, athletes are investing in personal and team growth through a program-wide book study of The 17 Indisputable Laws of Teamwork by John C. Maxwell. The study has sparked meaningful conversations around leadership, responsibility, and the importance of working together toward a shared goal.
This off-season is about more than preparation, it is about growth. Athletes are learning to show up for one another, push beyond their comfort zones, and commit to the vision of what Lovejoy Volleyball can become. As they continue to #BTV—Build The Vision—for next season, excitement continues to build around how their hard work, unity, and character development will carry forward into the year ahead.

We are #LovejoyProud of our students' love for reading and learning. Drum roll, please. The campus that read the most hours is Sloan Creek Intermediate! Congratulations to SCIS for earning the overall campus win! The top 20 readers at each campus received a 3D-printed dragon keychain designed by our Lovejoy Librarians.
In addition, the top reader at each campus also received an exclusive 3D-printed dragon for their amazing accomplishment. Thank you for participating, and remember that Sora is available 24/7 for your next great read!

Lovejoy Robotics Makes History 🤖🏆
Lovejoy High School’s VEX Robotics teams delivered an outstanding performance at the VEX Robot Rodeo DFW Signature Event, a national competition featuring 92 teams from 10 states.
For the first time in school history, a Lovejoy team was crowned Tournament Champion at a Signature Event. Team 1082E (Carbonated Potato) earned the championship title alongside their alliance partner, showcasing exceptional strategy and execution.
Additional team highlights:
-1082M (Meltdown) – Design Award
-1082J (Jumbo Shrimp) – Think Award
-1082N (No Way Micheal) – Season-high skills scores and improved global ranking
As a result, 1082E and 1082M have both qualified for the VEX Robotics World Championship—for the first time in school history, with two teams qualifying at a single Signature Event. The championship will be held this spring in St. Louis.
Out of more than 1,500 teams worldwide, only 51 have qualified at Signature Events so far—Lovejoy now has 2 of them.
Congratulations to our incredible robotics students and coaches. The world stage awaits! 💥
