Michele has been in education for 19 years and has taught all levels of English in grades 7-12, with the majority of her time working with sophomores. She attended the University of Texas at Dallas, where she earned a B.A. in Literary Studies. Michele received her Masters of Education in Educational Technology and Leadership from Lamar University. She holds a Texas principal certification in addition to her English teaching credentials. Michele believes that building personal relationships with students is the key to unlocking student potential. Her passion is providing student choice in reading and writing, as well as utilizing technology to maximize student growth.
She has 2 beautiful and smart daughters: Morgan (20), who attends the University of Texas at Austin and Meghan (22), a UT alum. She and her husband, George, are now empty nesters who spend their time either with their two perfect dogs or searching for the state’s best fajitas.
Michele’s personal mission is to provide continuous support to teachers to ensure that students have daily opportunities to listen, speak, read, write, and think with choice in their reading and options for authentic writing that will prepare them for the future.
