Emergency Communications

Our Commitment

Lovejoy ISD is committed to the safety and security of every student and staff member.  We have developed and implemented comprehensive emergency management strategies which help to ensure our students, staff members and parents are able to respond accordingly during a crisis or emergency situation.

In the event of a crisis or emergency, parents may obtain information through multiple communications sources, to include: Bright Arrow, Lovejoy ISD website, Twitter and/or Facebook.

Bright Arrow

Bright Arrow will be used to contact parents, via phone call, text and email, in a variety of situations or emergencies that require a campus to evacuate, relocate, secure or lockdown.  In order for Bright Arrow to be effective, Lovejoy ISD must have accurate information for all parents/guardians.  Without the accurate information, this service will not be able to make the necessary contacts in the event of an emergency.

Website, Twitter and Facebook

These accounts will be used to inform parents/guardians when schools are closed or opening late due to inclement weather.

Emergency Guidance
During an emergency situation at Lovejoy ISD, parents should await guidance from the school district.  This guidance will come in way of Bright Arrow, Website, Twitter and/or Facebook communications.  Our communications plan will be to inform you of the incident, and what steps you need to take if any.

During emergency situations:
  • Please do not call the school.  Staff members are needed to respond and work through the emergency or crisis event.
  • Please do not respond to the school, as this will again create traffic and communications issues.  Please give us the appropriate amount of time to work through the crisis or emergency event.
  • Students will be kept safe.
  • The school district will make the decision to keep the school day flowing as normal, or to reunify parents to students.
  • In the event of reunification, the school district will send out communications (Bright Arrow, Website, Twitter and/or Facebook) to inform parents of the reunification site.
  • If instructed to pick up your child, please bring a photo ID (DL, Passport, etc.) and check in with a school official.
  • Students will be released to parents or guardians that have an acceptable form of identification and are authorized under our Powerschool application.
  • If a child cannot be picked up by an authorized parent/guardian, the child will remain at the reunification site with school officials until appropriate arrangements can be made.

During emergency events, we urge parents/guardians to be patient.
