Protection Plan through iTurity

All intermediate school, middle school, and high school parents or guardians have the option to purchase insurance through iTurity each year for $25 per device.  This non-refundable insurance plan is an annual purchase for the Lovejoy Device Protection Plan through iTurity, which will be used to repair accidental damage to LISD-issued devices including Chromebooks, screens, cases, keyboards, and chargers. This optional protection plan is available to students in grades 5th through 12th, because all of these students can take their devices home for homework and school projects. If you choose to not pay for the Lovejoy Device Protection Plan, you will be responsible for the cost of the District Management Insurance or replacement of the device.

What is the Lovejoy Device Protection Plan Used For?

This optional protection plan will be used to repair accidental damage and product failure (not a result of damage). It will not cover negligence, willful damage, or a lost device (see table below).  Without the Protection Plan through iTurity, any repairs will require the payment of the district-managed insurance, and any replacement of a device will require the payment of any replacement costs.  The district-managed insurance and replacement costs are necessary to ensure that the device can be fixed and/or a replacement can be provided.  The Lovejoy Protection Plan through iTurity will be renewed annually, whether an incident has occurred or not.

All payments for those devices that are not covered by the Lovejoy Device Protection Plan through iTurity can be made through Lovejoy’s Revtrak System (https://lovejoy.revtrak.net/). This includes all replacement costs.

Damage and Willful Damage

A student device that is damaged or not working properly must be reported to school personnel immediately. All repairs will be performed by Lovejoy ISD approved personnel. A student is not permitted to take a Lovejoy ISD device to another vendor to have repairs made on the device or to purchase a replacement device from an outside vendor.

Lovejoy ISD does not cover intentional damage to a device. If the campus administration determines that there was intentional damage or gross negligence to the device or accessories, the student is responsible for full payment of the damage.

There will be a limited number of temporary devices on the campus to provide for students should it be determined that their device will take an extended time to repair.

Lost or Missing Devices

The optional Lovejoy Device Protection Plan through iTurity does not cover equipment that is lost, missing, or willfully damaged. Devices or accessories that are missing must be reported immediately to school personnel.  Replacement of the student device or accessories is covered by the Protection Plan only if it stops working due to normal wear and tear. For devices that are lost or missing, students are responsible for the full cost of the replacement. Students are responsible for repair costs associated with any damage to an assigned device. In the event of damage to an uninsured device, the device should be brought to the campus so it can be repaired by a district approved company. The district will obtain and provide the total cost of repair to the parent/guardian. Payment should be made on a timely basis so that the device can be fixed and returned to the student as soon as possible. The student may be issued a temporary device to use for educational purposes while his/her device is being repaired. The device can not be talent to an independent repair company as this is district property.

There will be a limited number of temporary devices on the campus to provide for students should it be determined that their device will take an extended time to repair.

Financial Hardships

Based on TEC 11.158, the school district may require payment of a reasonable fee, not to exceed the actual annual maintenance cost for the use of musical instruments, technology devices, and uniforms owned or rented by the district. If this fee creates a financial hardship for the student/parent from obtaining a device, please contact campus administration about options to reduce or waive the fee. Upon proof of financial hardship, the administration may elect to do the following:

  • Create a payment plan for the student to pay out fees over time
  • Allow reduced payment of the fee
  • Allow students to conduct community service equal in value to the fee
