Layers of Protection

Lovejoy ISD uses filtering technology protection measures to prevent access to material considered harmful or inappropriate to students. Despite our best efforts and beyond the limits of filtering technology, a student may run across some material that is objectionable. Lovejoy ISD has a 3-layer approach when students are using the Internet. The device is automatically routed through Lovejoy ISD’s filter for appropriate content which provides the first layer. GoGuardian creates an additional layer of protection and can be monitored and adjusted by the teacher or parent.  The third layer is where the student should use their digital responsibility skills when using a device.

 

Go Guardian Parent App

GoGuardian Parent can help families ensure their child experiences a safe, healthy, and engaging digital learning environment. The GoGuardian Parent App is an easy-to-use mobile app that gives guardians the information and tools they need to engage in honest conversations with their children, helping guide them to make safe, healthy, and productive decisions online. NOTE: GoGuardian Parent is currently compatible with iOS versions equal to or newer than iOS 8 and Android versions equal to or newer than Android Jelly Bean, v16, 4.1.x.

 

Engaging with Students

GoGuardian Parent App provides parents with easy-to-read reports that can be used to have open and honest conversations about how their child is spending their time on their school device. As a parent, you will have insight into how much time your student is spending on certain website categories during the school day.

    • Engage in open and honest conversations with your child about how they are spending their time online.
    • Use the student reports to celebrate your child’s positive choices as they engage in their digital learning environment.
 

Use a Filter at Home

GoGuardian knows that every child is unique and each family’s needs may vary. With the GoGuardian Parent App, parents have the ability to block websites and pause internet access on school-issued devices during out-of-school hours as well as Set schedules that work for your child to ensure that they build healthy screen-time habits.

 

Downloading and Opening the GoGuardian Parent Application

Download the GoGuardian Parent available on the Apple App Store HERE or Google Play HERE. Once the app has been installed, find the application within the apps list and tap the icon to open it. Click the button below for directions on setting up the GoGuardian Parent App.
